Somewhere beyond the edge of the old maps, natural history took an unnecessary extra step.

NONAPUS depicts a magnificent nine-armed cephalopod rendered with the solemn dignity normally reserved for legitimate scientific specimens. Curling tentacles, weathered textures, and a decorative botanical frame give it the appearance of an illustration recovered from an antique maritime bestiary. Everything looks perfectly respectable until someone starts counting.

That ninth arm is the entire problem.

Neither kraken nor ordinary octopus, the Nonapus belongs to the proud tradition of creatures that are only slightly wrong. No prophecy. No elaborate origin story. Just one additional appendage and generations of naturalists quietly arguing about it.

Rendered in the Hard Mode IRL WOODCUT™ style, the design combines antique zoological illustration, maritime folklore, restrained distressing, and deadpan absurdity. It’s a relic from a world where the unexplained wasn't necessarily terrifying. Sometimes it was just inconvenient to classify.
