A ghost above. A machine below. IN THE caught between them. The result is a literal old-world interpretation of Ghost in the Machine, stripped down into a visual rebus that feels like a warning discovered centuries before anyone had a computer to worry about.

The phrase has long suggested something unseen living inside a system: consciousness, intention, or some inexplicable presence hiding behind the machinery. Here, that idea becomes wonderfully literal. A ragged folkloric apparition hovers over an ancient hand-cranked mechanism, leaving one important question unanswered: is the ghost trapped inside the machine, controlling it, or just as confused as everyone else?

Rendered in the stark PALE BONES™ style, the design combines Gothic typography, distressed relic textures, and simple iconic imagery for a piece about technology, mystery, and the strange things we build that eventually seem to develop lives of their own.
